Boy Scout Railroad Merit Badge
Since 1998 the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America to offer a Railroad Merit Badge. This is an official BSA merit badge where the scouts have to demonstrate through testing their knowledge of railroad operations. The topics the scouts learn about include the following:
-
Operating
-
Mechanical
-
Engineering
-
Accounting
-
Traffic
-
Laws
-
And many others
Also included is a segment on “Operation Lifesaver”. Here the scouts learn about rail safety from a pedestrian and a driver perspective. This program is offered once a year (usually in June) and is held at the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad clubhouse.
If you are interested in this program please have your local Boy Scout Leader contact us by email. You can do this via Contact Us.
