The most famous and largest fleet of streamliners in the United States was the Burlington ZEPHYRS. From the original Zephyr’s introduction to service on November 11, 1934, to the flagship DENVER ZEPHYR, the stainless steel speedster epitomized train travel.
The Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club dedicates its Central Time Zone Selection to the Zephyrs as they were also based out of Chicago, Uncle Herb’s Hometown. Uncle Herb is riding the Zephyr’s routes enjoying the Central Time Zone and beyond.
This is our third car in a four car collection being completed in the year 2000.
The Burlington car color scheme is exceptionally striking in its black and two-tone grey colors accented by gold and red striping. The crisp Burlington herald and Zephyr logo make this car a must for any collector or railroad enthusiast. Uncle Herb in action delivering his package (when placed over and activated by any UCS track) also makes this a must have for operators of all ages.
The first two cars in the Time zone series, the Union Pacific Commemorative Golden Spike car and Southern Pacific Daylight, can still be ordered. The remaining time Zone car will be presented in 2000.
