The ATLANTIC COAST LINE was known for its speedy passenger service, and carried the majority of Florida-bound passengers. The West Coast Champion carried passengers from New York all the way to Sarasota, Fort Meyers, and Naples. The ACL has it roots since 1830 and grew to be one of the key respected railroads of the South. The Atlantic Coast Line is famous for its gray and purple paint scheme. The design was attributed to its best known employee, Champion McDowell Davis, who worked his way up from a messenger boy in 1893 to the railroad’s President in 1942. He loved the color purple!
Uncle Herb asked the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club it he could take a vacation to Florida. What a coincidence that the final car of the TIME ZONE series is the colorful Atlantic Coast Line. We worked things out and Uncle Herb is on his way.
This is our fourth and last car of our four car TIME ZONE collection.
Join Uncle Herb by purchasing this car for your layout or collection. The Atlantic Coast Line boxcar is gray with purple striping and yellow striping. The large logo proudly displays the Atlantic Coast Line logo as well as ATLANTIC COAST LINE header on the other side of the door.
