Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club

Answers to FAQ: The John G. Shedd Aquarium Car

The trucks are not the sprung metal type due to the driving gear for the film strip on one truck and the center rail pickup on the other truck.
The car is illuminated.
The color is sort of blue-green, and is reproduced in the color brochure fairly close to actual. The color is from the Shedd Aquarium's official color, which is Pantone #327.
The background scenery pictures of their coral reef does not move, the film strip with the fish on it does move when the car moving.
The car is being made by Lionel and runs on O-Gauge or 027 three rail track.
The symbol in the lower center panel is the Shedd's official logo.
The 1st & 2nd versions are the real cars used by the Shedd to transport fish in from the coasts. The 2nd Shedd car (The Nautilus 2) is at a RR Museum in Monticello, IL.
We normally do not send a receipt out due to cost and time involved. Your canceled check can be kept as a receipt.
If you want some color flyers for the Aquarium car for yourself, friends, local hobby store, or train show please provide a mailing address and I can send you some.
Other cars the club has offered were a C&NW boxcar, a Sante Fe Caboose, and a BN Maxi-Stack, all made by Lionel exclusively for us. We still have a limited number of cabooses available in black & red roofs. They are $90.00 each, which includes shipping and taxes. The BN Maxi-Stacks are on order now from Lionel and we did order a few extra. We will take orders for these till the extras run out. The expected delivery is in Sept. I hope I've answered all your questions, if not please feel free to write or E-mail any further inquiries.
