2007 LCCA Convention The annual Lionel Collector’s Club of America (LCCA) convention is
being held in Rosemont, Illinois from July 22nd thru July 29th.
The convention is based at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel located at
5440 N. River Road. The CLRC Modular Layout will be featured at the convention
starting on Wednesday, July 25th at 6:30 P.M. The layout room will
be open to the public from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. each day thru Saturday July
28th. Admission to the layout area is free. Members are encouraged
to attend and bring their trains to run on the layout. The Club will also have
a table in the trading hall that will be open to the public on Saturday July 28th.
A small admission charge is required to visit the trading hall. Stop in and see
the latest offerings in Lionel products from a variety of vendors. Club cars
will be available for purchase and orders will be taken for the new club car
offerings. Members are needed to help put the layout up on the 25th
at 2:00 P.M. and take it down on the 29th at 9:00 A.M. If you are

Western Pacific – Union Pacific Heritage Boxcar The latest club car to be offered is the Western
Pacific / Union Pacific Heritage Boxcar.
We have been associated with the Union Pacific and were one of the first
clubs approved to use their logo. Union
Pacific’s Director Corporate Relations shared in the Grand Opening of our 3600’
15’ high Train House, October 29, 2005.
As a railroading partner it is our honor to support their Heritage Line
with this Western Pacific Box Car. We
have coordinated with Lionel to build this car using the same colors and design
as their Western Pacific SD70ACe Heritage Diesel Locomotive coming out the end
of 2007. The car is the Lionel modern 50’ O-Gauge Box Car that will enjoy
trailing behind the Western Pacific Heritage Diesel or tucked away nicely in a
consist on your railroad. The car’s
artwork is directional starting with the orange semaphore pattern on a Green
background with the Western Pacific’s Feather leading to the gray background as
used on the SD70ACe diesel. This new car may be ordered using the enclosed
order form (those receiving this newsletter via U.S. mail) or by using the
order form available at the Club web site.
Fall Anniversary Cookout Mark
September 22, 2007 on your calendar for a picnic to be held at the CLRC
Clubhouse to mark the second anniversary of the Clubhouse’s opening. Running
trains is high on the list Drag races – bring your fastest engine. As in the
past, we will have food, (pop, hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, etc). Bring a side
dish or desert. The cost is $10.00 per person or $25.00 per family. Tickets
will be sold in advance so that we can anticipate the number of attendees and
determine the amount of food to be ordered.
Electronic
Newsletter - In order
to reduce newsletter expenses associated with printing and mailing, we are transitioning
to electronic distribution of newsletters to all members that currently have a
valid e-mail address. Printed copies will continue to be sent to all members who
do not have a valid e-mail address. To assist in this transition, if you
recently activated an e-mail address or changed your e-mail address, please
send your current active e-mail address to Al Havlicek at havli_lisle@sbcglobal.net.
This will enable us to update any incorrect addresses that we have and add new
addresses to our data base.
Regularly
Scheduled Run Meets for 2007 Run
meets are scheduled for every Saturday throughout the year. The third Saturday
of January through May and September though December are also designated as
Open House dates for attendance by the general public. Additional Sunday run
dates are being scheduled. The complete run schedule is available at the Club
web site.
CLUB CARS – Now is a good time to treat yourself to a special
present by ordering those club cars that you’ve had your eye on for some time.
Use the handy order form(s) included with this newsletter to order those cars. All club cars ordered using the enclosed order form(s)
will be shipped directly to the purchaser and are subject to shipping charges.
