The “City of New Orleans” car takes us back in time when the Southern Railroad ran their unique green colored engines and passenger cars. We designed this fast freight/passenger baggage car with Lionel to match the colors of their new Southern Cresent set. Enjoy the rich green background, creamy green strip and gold accents.

The “City of New York” car offers special handling for passenger and fast freight services bound for New York City. Large gray and white NYC lightning strips on this black car highlight the bold New York Central System logo as it is carrying mail, baggage, and other rush items on passenger or fast freight trains.

Amtraks National Train Day will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10th at Chicago Union Station. The Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club has been invited to participate and we will display the small layout.
Some of the activities that are planned for the day follow:
Amtrak Train Tours of Equipment
Raffles/giveaways of Amtrak tickets
Family-fun entertainment - trackless train rides for kids, kids entertainers (jugglers, stilt walker, balloon maker, facepainting), train related photo die-cut station,
Photography Display
Recognition to some Pullman Porters who will be in attendance
Train Simulator Games - software loaded onto computer kiosks where you can actually pretend like you are driving a train
A free concert by World Classic Rockers - the ultimate anth em band comprised of former members of Journey, Steppenwolf, Toto, Boston, Lynryd Skynyrd,

General Directions:
From I 80 exit at the LaGrange Road, (96th Ave. Rte 45, exit) going south proceed south 2 and 1/2 miles to Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) (stop light) turn West or to your right and proceed to Schoolhouse road. This is also a stop light. On the northwest corner is Lincoln Way High School. At Schoolhouse Road turn left or South and proceed 1 mile and go past the bike path. The property is located on the west side or right hand side if you are going south (Street address 21601-27).
Turn right at the Fairfield Industrial Condos sign(Camelot Homes is on top) and go down that road about 200 yards. At the 2nd set of buildings turn right. It is units 3 and 4 (west side).
If you cross railroad tracks on Schoolhouse Rd. you have gone about 300-400 yards too far.
