Club Phone 708-532-0435
The GN club cars have been
shipped and, if you ordered any, you probably have received them by now. If
there is any question about your order, contact John Flinn at CLRC, 20701 N.
Raphael Avenue, Prairie View, IL 60069-9608. An order blank is enclosed for
anyone who wishes to place an order for the GN cars or any other club cars that
are still in stock.
Shipping the cars went very well
in our new clubhouse, and we would like to thank all the members who helped get
the job done in an orderly fashion. Thanks also to those who ordered the GN
cars and, as a reminder, don't forget to order your THANK YOU cars!
UPCOMING EVENTS
SEPTEMBER
16, 2006 - We will resume the monthly Open House schedule. The public
will be invited to attend, and that means we need to have members available to
answer their questions and to assist with running trains. The open house will
be from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. We would like to cover this in one or two hour shifts.
If you would like to "be available" for an hour or two, contact Charlie
Cereghino at (847) 438-2931 or e-mail him at ccereghino@aol.com to set up a
time that you can help supervise the layout. You can also run your trains.
2006 ELECTIONS – The offices of Vice-president and Secretary
and two directors-at-large are up for election. All the incumbents have
expressed a desire to run again except Charlie Cereghino, the present
secretary. If you would like to run for secretary or any of the other positions
on the Board please submit your name to Herb Koch by September 30, 2006.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2006 – This day will be set aside for the next
Board meeting and as a general workday. Trains will run if there is no work to
be done on the layout.
OTHER IMPORTANT DATES
TMCC II – On September 4, the CLRC Board met with Lou
Kovach and Neil Young to discuss Lionel's TMCC
II Legacy System and to set up a regional demonstration at the CLRC Clubhouse. The
tentative date is November 5, 2006. So keep this date open. Plans need to be finalized, and more
information will be forthcoming in this newsletter and on our web site listed
above. This will be a very special day for your club and we would like as many
members as possible to participate. Herb Koch hkoch1@sbcglobal.net is the contact
person for this event.
RUN MEETS – Don't forget to check the timetable on our
web site. You can run trains on every Saturday of the month. The second Saturday
is a general membership meeting. The third Saturday will be an open house. The
fourth Saturday will be designated a workday for general maintenance on the
layout and clubhouse.
ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY - There will be a holiday party in December. More
information will be coming later.
