JUNE, 2004 NEWSLETTER
At the regular monthly run-meet held on Friday
June 4, 2004, at Proksa Park, President Herb Koch announced that we are now at
the contract stage in the purchase of a recently constructed building in New
Lenox. Bob Ciolino has acquired the services of a lawyer who will handle this
aspect of the purchase. Don Jennings passed around some pictures he had taken
of the interior and exterior of the building .It was quite impressive.
Herb said that attendance was good at the First Annual
Homewood Railroad Days and he wanted to thank all those who helped.
If you purchased a GP-20
"blue Ox" club locomotive, you are eligible for a free command upgrade. Details
may be obtained from Herb Koch at (708) 361-2483.
In addition, he also
announced that the "city" club cars have arrived and will be shipped in about a
week. (Actually they will have been shipped by the time you receive this
newsletter.)
This question was overheard
at the meeting: "Is it possible that the "City of Los Angeles" UP/CNW box car
will be the last one with the UP logo that Lionel produces for some time?"
Rich Thayer asked for
volunteers to help cook at the picnic. If you would like to help out call him
at (708) 532 – 0435.

Help celebrate the good times of the past and the new and exciting time of the
future of the CLRC/ *****
There is no run-meet
scheduled for July because of the Club's participation at the two national
conventions listed below.
Your CLRC is planning to
participate in the LOTS convention July 15 - 18, 2004 in Cincinnati,
Ohio, and the LCCA convention July 22 - 25, 2004 in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. Plan to spend a long weekend at one or both of these summer train
events. You can show off your trains to a national audience of convention
attendees. Herb Koch is coordinating these events. Please contact him at (708)
361-2483 if you can help. PLEASE NOTE: You do not have to be a member of either of these national
organizations to participate. You can come and run trains or just observe the
CLRC layout. Just wear your badge or bring proof of membership such as your
2004 CLRC sticker. Both conventions have a trading hall, which is open to the
general public on the Saturday of the convention. You will not need to
have proof of CLRC membership. The trading hall is a must, because the venders
display only Lionel trains.
Regular
run-meets are scheduled for August 6 and September 3, 2004 at Proksa Park.
The
Wal-Camp run will take place on October 2 & 3 Al Laseke will be
coordinating this event again this year.

Scout Merit Badge Jamboree in 2004.It will be held on October 16 and 17,
