During the past month your CLRC participated in two Boy Scout Railroading Merit Badge Jamborees. The first took place on April 25 -27th in Burlington, Iowa. Over 350 scouts completed the requirements and earned their merit badge. In order to accommodate the large number of scouts the club layout was set up on two levels allowing for the running of six trains at one time.

We would like to thank the following club members for their time and participation in this event: Jeff Mills for towing the trailer and who along with Fred Miles made the arrangements for food and lodging for the members, Adolph Wiegant who came all the way over from Wichita, Kansas, Glenn Theinert from the Peoria area who was able to join in the club's activities for the first time, also Herb Koch, John Flinn, Al Laseke, Bill Crissie, Lyle Eimen, David Myford, David Mills, and Charlie Cereghino. This was also the first major event for Bill Crissie and David Myford. Finally we would like to thank the many people in Burlington who arranged for our food, lodging, and tour of the Burlington back shops. It certainly was an exciting weekend running trains in a working Amtrak station and having both passenger and freight trains passing within 30 feet of our layout and watching barges move down the Mississippi River at the same time.

The second jamboree took place on May 16-17th at Camp Hoover in Yorktown, Illinois. The layout was set up at the low level because only three stations were needed to accommodate about 100 scouts who earned their merit badge. Again we would like to thank the following members who participated in this event: Herb Koch who towed the trailer, John Flinn Al Laseke, Fred Miles Jeff Mills, Lyle Eimen, Danny Wright, Bob Stashak, and Charlie Cereghino.

In addition we would like to thank Lionel Trains for their generous support of these two events. There are four lucky scouts who at this time are enjoying their new train sets.
