APRIL, 2005 NEWSLETTER
The 2005 Business
Meeting of the CLRC was held on
Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the CLRC building 1311 Schoolhouse Road, New Lenox,
IL 60451.
The major items of discussion
were the building modifications and enhancements. Plans for ingress and egress
of the building by members in order to facilitate using the club layout and
designating various locations for possible use as office, kitchen and
maintenance areas were also topics of discussion. The CLRC Board decided to
include a mezzanine that would have storage lockers that will be available for
members to rent. Herb Koch said that this would be an ideal situation for
members to have their trains near the club layout so that they do not have to
move them back and forth from home to the clubhouse.
Construction of the permanent
layout will begin as soon as the modifications are completed. We would like to
thank all those who put in many hours developing these plans, particularly our
presenters: Herb Koch, Bob Ciolino, Swav Kojro, and Ted Cwik
New Club Cars The Board decided to go ahead with two new club cars
for 2005. They are: a Great Northern bunk and tool car and a Great Northern
welding car. Look for our ads in future issues of Classic Toy Trains and The
Prairie State Express.
2005 Membership coupons
are being sent with this mailing.
Membership Director Rich Thayer said the current stickers for this year are not
available at this time because of a printing delay. They will be sent with a
future issue of the club newsletter.
Your discount coupon may be
used toward the purchase of any of the four current "City" cars, the club
locomotive and a select number of "Time-Zone" cars and cylindrical hoppers. An
order form listing the items still available is included for your convenience.
Anyone who already owns a club locomotive can also use this form to order
upgrades. The order form may be copied.
Saturday Run-Meets At the present time the clubhouse is open every
Saturday from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. Usually there is a board member who is willing
to stay longer. Regular members are encouraged to come and run their trains on
the 50 by 50 foot layout. Guests and prospective new members are welcome when
accompanied by a member. In time it is the hope of the CLRC Board to have
arrangements made for member use of the layout on different days of the week
The full layout will be
available except for the following special events this summer:
