Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club

Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club

March Newsletter

Your Board met on March 4, 2006.  Here are the highlights:

MEMBERSHIP:  Rich Thayer reports that we have picked up 24 new regular members since October 2005 and now have a total regular membership of 208.  Regular members are reminded that annual dues are $40.00 and that new members are required to pay a one-time initiation fee of $30.00. Please do not let your membership lapse.  The board has adopted a resolution which states that a member who allows his/her membership to lapse must pay the annual dues of $40.00 PLUS the $30.00 re-initiation fee.  Members who have not paid their membership dues by March 31st will be dropped as regular members.

MEMBERSHIP PRIVILEGES AT RUN-MEETS:  Only regular members are entitled to run trains on the Club layout.  The Yardmaster will be provided with a list of current members which will enable him to verify membership if you happen to forget your membership card.

BUILDING UPGRADES/DECORATIONS: The bathrooms, retail shop, and Dining Car (formerly “the Tea Room”) will be getting a new coat of paint and Lionel and/or railroad theme borders.

OPEN HOUSES:  THE 3rd Saturday of every month is an Open House.  Please tell everyone about them.  Single entries are $2.00 and families are $5.00.  This may seem like a small fee but every Open House really contributes to the operating budget.

NEW RENTAL LOCKERS:  Got trains?  6 new smaller lockers have been constructed.  These new lockers are 30”H x 30”W x 16”D.  They are each $15.00 per month.  See a board member for rental arrangements.

ILLINOIS LIVE STEAMERS AT CLRC:  On May 6, 2006, the CLRC will host the Illinois Live Steamers (ILS) at our clubhouse.  They will bring their hot dog machine.  A “dog and chips” lunch can be purchased for $2.00.  CLRC members are asked to bring a dessert to be shared by all.  The Dining Car will be selling pop, water and coffee at the usual prices.  Join us for a good time, show off your favorite train on our layout and reminisce about old times.

High signals until next time,
