The 2003 CLRC Business Meeting was held on March 7, 2003 at Klas Restaurant, 5734 W. Cermak Road, Cicero, IL. President Herb Koch welcomed the members in attendance and then turned things over to Treasurer Bob Ciolino, who presented a detailed financial report. When he finished, Bob received a round of applause for a job well done.
Herb Koch then went on to discuss the continuing search for a permanent home. He explained how he and other members of the committee have been investigating buildings and vacant land that might have some potential as a permanent home. The search has been time consuming and sometimes frustrating. He again called upon all members in the Chicagoland area to help in the search for an appropriate place. (If you have questions about the criteria for selecting a building or site, contact Bob Ciolino, Ted Cwik, or Herb Koch.)
Herb Koch introduced the other officers and directors at large and thanked them for their time and effort in conducting club business and events. He stressed the additional duties that each board member has. A list of these are included for your information and future reference in the event that you have a question or concern about a specific club activity or if you wish to volunteer to help at an activity. In addition Herb introduced and thanked Richard Zarr, who has helped coordinate CLRC activities at Proksa Park for the past five months.
The final item on the agenda was the discussion of "future club activities." Some of these are listed below in "Some Reminders" along with the contact person(s).
SOME REMINDERS
THE NEXT RUN-MEET WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 4 AT PROKSA PARK, Berwyn, IL. Set up will begin about 4:30 P.M. Trains will run until 10:00 P.M. Pizza will be ordered at about 6:30 P.M. Renew old acquaintances and meet some new friends. Come early and help set up or plan on staying after to help take down the layout. Come early if you can help with the layout.
If your mailing label reads "expires 2/2003 and you have not received your 2003 sticker and discount coupon, then you need to renew your membership very soon. This is the last time renewal forms will be mailed. Remember you will receive a $10 coupon for use toward any club car with a regular membership. Mail your check to Rich Thayer or see Bob Ciolino at the next run-meet.
BURLINGTON, IOWA BOY SCOUT RR MERIT BADGE JAMBOREE will be held on April 25-27, 2003. From the discussion at the business meeting, this is going to be an extraordinary train experience. Members will be needed to help set up and to assist the scouts to run trains on the layout. Contact Jeff Mills at (708) 749-1930 or Herb Koch (708) 361-2483 if you can help.
The 2003 CLRC picnic will be held at the Illinois Live Steamers on June 28. Rich Thayer is looking for members who are willing to spend some time cooking on that day.
