OCTOBER, 2005 NEWSLETTER

OCTOBER, 2005 NEWSLETTER

FINALLY after a little more than ten years, one of the major dreams of having a permanent home to run trains has been realized. Alterations and improvements to the clubhouse are done, and the club is getting ready to run trains at the members' leisure and convenience. This is truly an exciting time to be a member of the CLRC!

ON OCTOBER 29, 2005, the club will be having a Grand Opening to celebrate this achievement. A separate sheet with details and a map are enclosed. Members who attend will be amazed at what has been done and what the potential is for greater things for the club. This is your club and your building and it's up to you to come and take advantage of this opportunity to run trains in your own clubhouse. The afternoon "members only" time will have special activities not listed on the general information sheet. Plan to attend and to visualize the next major step – the construction of the permanent layout.

NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS for the 2005 election closed on September 30, 2005. The election meeting will be held at the clubhouse on Friday, November 18, 2005.  A ballot is enclosed with this newsletter. You may vote by mail or in person on election night. Details are noted on the ballot. All the candidates are incumbents, and your vote will also be a vote of confidence in them.

THE NEXT ISSUE OF THE PRAIRIE STATE EXPRESS will be out shortly. Besides many interesting articles, you will also find an order form for the new Great Northern club cars if you haven't ordered them already.

AS A REMINDER, if your address label states "Expires 02/01/2006 you need to renew your membership. Renewal dues are $40. Your dues and an optional permanent layout donation should be sent to Rich Thayer, 16612 Tudor Lane, Tinley Park, IL 60477-6322.

DO NOT send dues with your election ballot!

YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS IS IMPORTANT.  Please submit you E-mail address to Rich Thayer on your renewal form, and keep him informed of any changes. Our Web Master, Irwin Bross, will try to keep you up to date with important reminders of upcoming events and run-meets. This is a good way to know exactly when the clubhouse will be open to run your trains. In the future you may be also receiving this newsletter via E-mail. In addition check the club's web site periodically for updates.
