THE
ELECTION MEETING was held on
December 16, 2006 with the following candidates elected by unanimous vote:
Vice-President – Rich Thayer; Secretary
- Alan Havlicek; Director – John Flinn and Edward Carter. Irwin Bross was
listed in error; his term is not up until 2007.
MEMBERSHIP
RENEWALS - Remember your current
membership expires in February 2007. This year’s renewal is still $40. Renewal
forms are included and dues are to be received by the end of January.
PERMANENT
CLUB LAYOUT – A meeting
to discuss plans for a new permanent Club layout will be held during the
regular run session on January 27th. We are looking for ideas for
the focus of the new layout. There seems to be a consensus among members that
it should be geared more toward prototypical operation with areas provided for
switching operations in a yard area and at sidings along the main lines. There
is also interest in providing a multi-level layout. This is a major undertaking
and requires a lot of planning. We encourage you to send your ideas, thoughts,
etc about a new layout to Swav Kojro via e-mail at swavk@hotmail.com. If you don’t have access
to e-mail, drop him a note at 12817 Artesian Street, Lemont, IL 60439-7760, or
give him a call at 630-257-8076.
Regularly
Scheduled Run Meets for 2007 Run
meets are scheduled for every Saturday throughout the year. The third Saturday
of January through May and October though December are also designated as Open
House dates for attendance by the general public.
Additional
Run Meet Dates – In order to make
the Club layout more accessible to our members, the following Sunday run dates
are being scheduled. January 28th, February 18th, March 4th,
April 22nd and May 13th. The Clubhouse will be open from
9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on those dates. This is a trial period being used to
determine member interest levels in scheduled run meets on a day other than
Saturday.
Electronic
Newsletter - In order
to reduce newsletter expenses associated with printing and mailing, we will be
transitioning to an electronic only distribution of newsletters to all members
that currently have a valid e-mail address. Printed copies will continue to be
sent to all members through March of this year. After that, only members who do
not have a valid e-mail address will receive printed copies of the newsletter.
To assist in this transition, please send your current active e-mail address to
Al Havlicek at havli_lisle@sbcglobal.net. This will
enable us to update any incorrect addresses that we have and add new addresses
to our data base.
TMCC2 Head Engineer
for Lionel’s TMCC2 and CLRC member, Lou Kovach, has confirmed us that he and
other Lionel representatives will participate in a demonstration of the new
technology. Dates and details will follow via the newsletter and on the club
website as they become known
CLUB CARS – Now is a good time to treat yourself to a special
present by ordering those club cars that you’ve had your eye on for some time.
Use the handy order form on the back of this newsletter. As a special
incentive, anyone who orders with this form and who will pick up the car(s) at
the Clubhouse will have all shipping charges waived for the entire order.
Wanted – The Club is in need of several padded bar stool type
chairs to use in the workshop and the upstairs area. If you have any of these
that you no longer need and are willing to donate items that are in good
condition to the Club, it is much appreciated.
The next
CLRC Board meeting will be held
February 24th at the CLRC clubhouse.
